About SIMUN 2026

Sorbonne International Model United Nations – SIMUN

Located in the heart of Paris, at the historical Sorbonne campus, SIMUN is proud to announce its third edition!

SIMUN is an international MUN conference held in English and French by Sorbonne for the United Nations Society (SONU), an inter-university association between Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, Sorbonne Nouvelle University and Sorbonne University.

Inviting students from all around the world to experience the art of negotiation against the backdrop of one of the world’s most historic and inspiring cities, this year’s theme : “Reimagining Diplomacy : Forging Paths Beyond Crises”, embodies the conviction that diplomacy remains a cornerstone of humanity, even in the most challenging times.

Throughout the conference, SIMUN aims at engaging students in high-level debates and negotiations across diverse and dynamic committees, sharpening their skills as global citizens.

Secretariats

Erika KHOV, Secretary-General

Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, 2nd Year Law

Erika is a Chinese-Cambodian-French second-year Law student at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. She began her MUN journey in high school in Cambodia at the Lycée Français René Descartes. After participating once as a delegate, she quickly moved on to chairing at the first LFRDMUN and later served as Secretary-General of its following edition. While she still enjoys being a delegate and participating in plenary debates when possible, she prefers chairing and organising to drafting resolutions.

Initially, she did not plan to continue MUN at university. However, Erika joined SIMUN last year as ASG for Academics, which led to further roles as a chair and organiser, with SIMUN 2026 marking her eighteenth conference, out of many more to come.

Valuing both the process of seeing months of preparation come together and the meaningful connections formed along the way, Erika looks forward to welcoming all participants. She hopes to contribute—alongside the dedicated SIMUN 2026 team ✨—to a memorable experience that is both engaging and thoughtful, balancing the fun of MUN with reflection on international issues and the complexity of today’s world.

Reem EL GHAZAL, Deputy Secretary General

Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, 2nd Year Law

Reem is a Lebanese second-year Economics student at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Her MUN journey began all the way back in eighth grade, a beginning so early that it became less of an activity and more of a defining thread in her life. From Beirut to Europe to the United States, she has done it all making what started as curiosity grow into a passion that shaped her confidence and her understanding of diplomacy.

This year, Reem steps into SIMUN 2026 as Deputy Secretary-General, a role that feels like both a turning point and a homecoming. After years of debating and chairing, being part of the conference’s core team brings her journey full circle. She now stands on the other side, organizing the experience that shaped her, carrying the responsibility of creating a space where others can find their voice just as she once found hers.

Reem is ready to welcome the delegates of SIMUN 2026 into the halls of la Sorbonne, hoping that first-timers feel the spark she felt back in eighth grade, and that seasoned delegates reconnect with the excitement that brought them into MUN in the first place. »
